Julie Hawkins
Julie Hawkins is an abstract painter from Woodstock, Ontario. Her works are created out of intuition through spontaneous movement and expressive brushstrokes. Julie’s painting practice is an integral part of her ability to live a full and mindful life. Julie has exhibited her work in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and New York City, and has been working as a professional artist for over twelve years.
“My paintings have started reflecting what’s going on in my life. Or maybe they have been all along but I’m just noticing it now. My work has many layers, some of them are joyous and beautiful, and some of them are ugly and dark. The painting process is a constant contemplation of what to keep and what to cover up, what to accentuate and what to get rid of. It is a process of creating, and of letting go.”
